MANILA – Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso is happy that Senator and fellow presidential aspirant Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson decided to stay in the race despite recent developments in the latter’s political party.
Domagoso, in an interview during his Bulacan campaign sortie on Thursday, said like him, Lacson is one of the good options for the presidency.
“I’m happy that Senator Lacson continues to participate in the campaign as a candidate for president kasi maganda rin siyang option ng ating mga kababayang Pilipino (because he is one of the better choices for our countrymen),” he said.
On Thursday, Lacson resigned as the chairperson and member of the Partido Reporma and decided to continue his candidacy as an independent, after he was informed that the party’s slate in Davao del Norte is set to endorse a rival candidate.
Partido Reporma president and Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez has endorsed the presidential candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo despite admitting that Lacson is the “most qualified” to be the next president of the country.
During the interview, even Domagoso got surprised with the turn of events and expressed sympathy for Lacson.
“Good luck. May God continues to guide and bless Senator Ping Lacson, deep inside as a candidate masakit yung nangyari sa kaniya (what happened to him really hurts),” Domagoso said.
He said Lacson’s decision to continue with his candidacy is good for the Filipino people, describing the veteran lawmaker as an asset to the country because of his dedication to serving the people.
With Lacson still on the race, Domagoso said voters have good options other than the two top rivals for the May 9 presidential race -- former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Available ako, katulad din ni Senator Lacson, we can be an option. Kung gusto nyo ng kapayapaan, kapanatagan at result oriented leader and a crisis manager at ang tinitingnang problema ay yung problema ng tao hindi yung problemang personal na political favor lang, available po ako katulad ni Senator Ping Lacson, maiba naman (I am available, just like Senator Lacson, we can be an option. If you want peace, stability and a result oriented leader and a crisis manager, and focuses on the problems of the people and not their own personal political favor, I am available just like Senator Lacson. For a change),” Domagoso said.
Going around Bulacan, Domagoso noticed areas in Hagonoy and Calumpit that are always under deep flood despite the summer heat, reminding him of the slum area in Baseco where he grew up, which he said was also under flood then.
If he wins in this coming May presidential election, Domagoso assured Bulacan residents that he will resolve this life-long flood problem in the province. (PNA)
