MANILA – An election watchdog group led a series of novena Masses for nine months which started on Thursday until the election day on May 9, 2022.
In a statement on Friday, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) dubbed the church activity as Prayer Power Campaign 2022 is to seek divine guidance for Filipinos as they will choose new leaders of the country next year.
The novena Masses will also ask for the May 2022 polls to be orderly, accurate, and peaceful.
"The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) is spearheading a series of novena Masses for nine months starting September 9, 2021, until our election day on May 9, 2022, to implore the aid of the Divine Providence for Filipinos to do their share to ensure that voting, counting, and canvassing in the 2022 National Elections proceed in an orderly, peaceful, honest and credible manner," the church-based group said.
"Let our every action in these elections be guided by these basic values for good citizenship so that those elected be exemplars of these values," it added.
Meanwhile, church-run Radio Veritas reported that the Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David is set to lead the first series of the novena masses in the evening.
It added the public may join the activity by visiting PPCRV’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel. (PNA)
