BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) in Caraga (Region 13) on Thursday said its Regional Task Group (RTG) has been activated to ensure an orderly, safe, and secure 2022 national and local elections.
In a statement Thursday, Police Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., the director of PRO-13, said the RTG is also tasked to ensure the orderly conduct of the filing of the certificates of candidacy from October 1 to 8.
Police Col. Roger Quesada, the deputy regional director of PRO-13, will head the RTG and will be tasked to provide strategic direction and supervision to all police units in the region and to oversee the implementation of the PRO-13 security plan for the 2022 polls.
“The Philippine National Police in Caraga Region will maximize its resources to ensure that no violent incidents will occur during the filing of candidacy,” Caramat said.
He added that PRO-13 has already coordinated with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard, and other government agencies.
PRO-13 had also met with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the region for the deployment of police personnel to Comelec offices during the conduct of the filing of candidacy.
As the threat of the pandemic continues, PRO-13 will also ensure that minimum health and safety protocols are strictly observed during the filing of candidacy, Caramat said. (PNA)
