The Political Experience of the Vice Presidential Candidates for the 2022 Elections
One of the criteria of Filipinos in choosing their vice presidential bets is the candidates’ political experiences. To help you with that, here is an outline of the political backgrounds of the vice-presidential candidates for the 2022 Elections.
Kiko Pangilinan
Pangilinan first entered mainstream politics in 1988 when he became the youngest councilor of the 4th district of Quezon City. In 2001, he won a seat in the senate and remained a senator until 2007. In 2004, he was elected as the Senate Majority Leader. It was in 2010, when he became the chairman of the Senate Committee in Agriculture, that he began to have strong ties to Filipino farmers and since then, his advocacy has been agriculture-focused. He was once again reelected as a senator in 2016.
Tito Sotto
Sotto formally entered politics when he became the vice mayor of Quezon City in 1988-1992. He was elected as a senator in 1992 and was re-elected for two consecutive terms until 2004. From 2002 to 2004, he was the Senate Majority Leader. In 2002, he was the Minority Floor Leader. He has been a senator since 2010, having been elected as the Majority Floor Leader in 2010-2013, and he has been the Senaet President since 2018.
Willie Ong
Willing Ong is a doctor and health advocate. He is best known for having a Facebook pageant a YouTube channel that he uses to deliver medical advice to regular Filipinos. Prior to his vice presidential bet under Isko Moreno for Aksyon Demokratiko, the only time that Ong attempted to kickstart his political career was when he ran for Senator in 2019, ultimately ending up in the 18th place.
