Voter’s Beginners Guide: The Best Political Candidate Choice
If you are a newly registered voter of the Philippines and you want to know who is the best political candidate that deserves your vote. Well, I’m here to tell you the criteria in choosing your candidates for this election.
First off, there is no best political candidate. Filipinos tend to think that the candidate that they will elect to the position will be their savior from poverty or suffering. It’s important to understand that there is no such person who will bring an end to all problems in the country. Many politicians have claimed that they will do so in the past but none of them succeeded.
However, they will have immense power in our country so pick them with great care. The president and vice-president should have a background in economics to help our declined economy during the pandemic. They must have a clean track record with no accusations of plunder or any human rights violations, meaning that they have a clean conscience. They must have extensive experience with politics so you can trust them with any major decision ranging from foreign to domestic policy. Their platforms must be concrete and crystal clear.
Senators and congressmen must at least have knowledge of the law. They must have a humanitarian and democratic approach in passing laws. Their platforms must have society’s wellbeing in mind and must address the inefficiencies in the government. Choose characteristics that will help them pass laws that will be good for the country.
Lower positions must also have clear criminal backgrounds since corruption still happens at the bottom of the hierarchy. They should also be in close touch with the people they will be serving. They must be fast in reacting to calamities and disasters. Because they are the immediate rulers of their authority, they must have a positive impact and programs on their citizens. Their compassion plays a big part in delivering their political responsibilities.
Of course, not all candidates will have all desired criteria. And you might not even agree with these criteria. However, it is important to pick the one who you think will put the Philippines first before his personal ambitions. Your morals and desire for positive change will help you choose wisely for the future of our country.
