2. Leni Robredo
West Philippine Sea: Robredo had proclaimed that before diplomatic negotiations with China about the WPS should come, China should first acknowledge the arbitrary ruling that the WPS is within the rightful territory of the Philippines.
COVID: Robredo’s primary goal is to facilitate proper healthcare and freedom against the COVID pandemic. It is worth noting that she spent the last two years of her vice presidency dealing with COVID by providing PPE to healthcare workers, facilitating the vaccine express, the online consultation platform for outpatients with COVID above others.
3. Bongbong Marcos
West Philippine Sea: Marcos had said in September that when it comes to the territorial dispute with China, the Philippines does not stand a chance. He also stated the policy of engagement done by the Duterte administration is the right way to go.
COVID: Marcos wants to have a higher budget for healthcare and medical research in order to address the COVID-19 pandemic. This would go towards increasing the salaries and additional benefits of frontline medical workers.
4. Ping Lacson
West Philippine Sea: In November 21, in the midst of rising tensions in the WPS, Lacson, together with his team, flew to Pag-asa Island to erect Philippine flags there. He had also stated that he supports a 60-40 joint exploration with China.
COVID: Lacson, along with running mate Tito Sotto believes that lockdowns do more harm than good. He also believes that the COVID response of the government should undergo some changes as it is not effective.
