Anti-vote buying drive to help ensure peaceful polls

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – An anti-vote buying campaign was launched on Tuesday in this province to help ensure orderly, honest, peaceful, and fair elections on May 9.

Dubbed “Our Vote, Our Future,” the drive was launched at the One Grand Pavillion Events Place here, attended by representatives from various government agencies, civil society groups, religious groups, academe, youth organization, and candidates who committed to supporting the anti-vote buying and selling campaign.

"Kailangang umpisahan ko ito at sama-sama tayong kikilos para pangalagaan ang kinabukasan ng mga susunod pang henerasyon (I need to start this and together we will move to protect the future of the next generations)," Governor Daniel Fernando said in his message during the event.

He said the overwhelming support shown by the various sectors and candidates to the anti-vote buying campaign is an indication that the electorate wants to make sure that the upcoming polls will be reflective of the true will of the people.

"I call on the people of Bulacan to be vigilant on the activities of the candidates who are aspiring for different elected positions in the upcoming elections," the governor said. (PNA)
