Comelec-Zambo opens voter registration center in mall

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and SM Supermalls opened on Wednesday a satellite voter registration center at SM City Mindpro to provide the public with more voter registration venues here.

The SM City Mindpro’s Comelec satellite registration center will operate until September 15 to give the public a safer and more convenient option amid the pandemic.

Lawyers Stephen Roy Cañete and Jan Christian Babiera, first and second district election officers, respectively, lauded the partnership with the shopping mall as it will help hasten the voter registration in this city.

The two election officials encouraged the Zamboangueños to register from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during Saturdays at the Level 2 of SM City Mindpro.

The voter registration is in preparation for the 2022 national and local elections.

The Comelec-Zamboanga is the latest government agency to partner with SM in bringing basic government services closer to the public.

Other in-mall government services available in SM City Mindpro include Covid-19 vaccination and the National identification card (ID) registration of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The SM Supermalls is providing free space and waived charges to essential conveniences so they can efficiently operate the registration centers. (PNA)
