MANILA – Electoral Board (EB) members who will be serving in the March 14 special congressional polls in Antipolo City's 2nd District are set to receive at least PHP11,000.
Based on Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution No. 11198, the honoraria for the chairpersons and members are PHP12,000 and PHP11,000, respectively.
"The chairperson and members of the EB shall be entitled to compensation depending on their designation, which is inclusive of honoraria, travel, communication, and meal allowances," it said.
The poll body added that EB chairs and members will get a minimum of 10 days of service credits if they are government employees.
Aside from the honoraria, the special polls workers are also entitled to PHP500,000 death benefits, as well as PHP200,000 medical assistance.
Comelec Chairperson George Garcia noted that the honoraria and benefits are similar to the amount received by those who served in the May 2025 polls.
"The additional pays and benefits for teachers are non-negotiable. The heroes of the nation are not to be undervalued," he said in a phone interview.
There will be an EB for every clustered precinct, with each composed of the chairperson, poll clerk, and a third member.
For the Antipolo special polls, there will be a total of 348 clustered precincts for the district’s 252,793 registered voters.
Meanwhile, Garcia welcomed the declaration of March 14 as a special non-working day in the district, as declared by Malacañang under Proclamation No. 1173.
"This will help ensure that the citizens of the 2nd District will be able to vote," Garcia said. (PNA)
